What Are HTML5 Web Design Templates?
HTML5 is the up and coming HTML specification that allows web pages to do things they couldn’t do before. Our HTML5 web design templates are created using the new HTML5 animation, audio and video technologies that will soon become commonplace on the web. There are very few places that provide HTML5 web design templates right now, but we have them!
HTML5 supports video streaming and animation and 2D and 3D animation, without using Flash, which means users with browsers that support HTML5 can see rich animations in 2D and 3D, as well as audio and video, without any special browser plugins.
HTML5 allows embedded video to play natively in the browser.
Browsers need a video codec in order to play video – and each video format has it’s own unique codec.
Right now, some browsers support one or another, but only Chrome supports both as of early 2012. Most online video is currently encoded using the H.264 codec, which has emerged as the standard for video encoding/compression.
For whatever reason, streaming support for video was left out of the HTML5 specification so far. Because of this, developers are free to use and choose any streaming player framework they like. There are many available if you Google ‘streaming video player’.
Audio is similar to video with HTML5, the streaming was left out and there are popular several encoders available.
On top of that none of the browsers (except for Opera) currently support all the video and audio functions (controls) specified in HTML5.
Our HTML5 templates are designed to take full advantage of the new HTML5 audio and video capabilities, which do not require users to download plugins to experience the audio or video.
Animation in HTML5
HTML5 supports SVG (Scalable Vecor Graphics, which is basically what Flash does), 2D and 3D images. HTML5 uses JavaScript to provide rich animations and interactivity. Typically, you would use the new HTML canvas tag to draw 2D and 3D objects, CSS3 animation and transformation capabilities, as well as browser support for SVG (scalable vector graphics) and web fonts.
Currently, Flash has the beset tools for creating the actual animations, timelines, transitions and movements – but Adobe Edge was just released and it’s the first major piece of software designed to go up against Flash in that regard. Look for more software intended to make HTML5 animating even easier and more robust over the next few years.
HTML5 Browser Support
Basically, Firefox, Chrome and Safari are the only browsers providing reasonable support for HTML5 right now. Internet Explorer and Opera are a bit behind. The full HTML5 specification isn’t due to be published until 2014 so all browser support is officially labeled as “partial” – even though it’s pretty darned good in most cases in Safari, Chrome and Firefox.
